Peel and pack

Peel and pack

Irrespective of the season, one has to take care of one's skin, especially the face by replenishing it with a variety of face packs.
Since the face is exposed to sunlight, dust and grime through the day, there is nothing like pampering it with a face mask to rejuvenate it. Here are a few packs that you can prepare on your day off and treat your skin with its weekly dose of nourishment.
Mix cucumber pulp with organic rose water. Add a tablespoon of coconut water. This mixture acts as a cleanser. Rose water plays the role of a toner. You can even exfoliate with organic oatmeal and milk mixture to remove black and white heads. Then apply the cool cucumber pack.

Get that glow
Rubbing a coat of lemon on your face will fight out the oil and make your skin a shade lighter.
Sometimes the best products for the face can be found in your refrigerator. Before you throw out a papaya rind, extract some of the juice and smear on your face. Massage carefully in circular motions for an instant glow. Ditto for tomato pulp.
Worried about acne-prone skin ruining a date? Soak a cotton ball in lukewarm water. Add a teaspoon of salt. Dab the cotton on a blemish for a few minutes. It reduces the chances of the blemish leaving behind a scar.
Another miracle remedy is a mix of cucumber juice and coconut water. It tastes good too. Acne prone skin can do with a paste of sandalwood powder and rose water as well.
Aloe vera is a one-stop solution to most problems and rarely has side effects because of its anti-bacterial properties. Aloe vera pulp can be rubbed on cracked heels, boils and slight burns too.
You can also use it to moisturise extremely dry skin. Now that the summer heat is on, keep a couple of leaves handy in case of sunburns.

Grapefruit and grape seed oil can be used to reduce excessive oil. It acts as a cleanser and treats pimples.
Tea tree oil known for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties is used in face washes and moisturises as well
. A mixture of papaya juice, akhrot oil, olive oil and orange extracts makes dry skin soft and smooth. It is also used to combat wrinkle formation.
Add witch hazel to a face pack. It's used to treat acne and boils because of its antiseptic and astringent
properties. (With inputs from spa specialist Kiran Bawa and dermatologist Jaishree Sharad)
