And every time you watch, you find yourself praying for the team you support to win. But enjoying sports just doesn't mean spending Sundays watching your favourite team play on a sports channel. It also means to actively participate in sports.
To be in a good state of health, it is very important to eat the right kind of food. But it is not just the diet which plays a role. Being physically active is also very crucial. Playing sports will help you boost up your metabolism rate and burn the extra calories. Hence, it is a step towards physical fitness.
When you play a game you are involved in it both at the physical and mental level. This helps an individual in several ways. One can develop many good habits by participating in sports. It improves your confidence through learning skills and success. It helps in learning to control your impulses. One learns about rules and fair play, and also, how to cope up with winning and losing. Playing as a team will encourage the co-operation among the players. When you lead a team, you get acquainted with the leadership qualities. Being an active participant in sports will improve your physical fitness as well as give you mental satisfaction.

It is never too late to start playing any sports. But remember it is essential to have a coach as right guidance will save you from injuries that can be caused if attention is not paid. It is important to learn warm up exercises and stretch exercises, which are to be done before and after playing, respectively, as this will prevent any muscle or ligament injury.
There is a general rise in several diseases, and especially obesity, among the populations. Participating in sports will save you from developing such health hazards. The sooner you realize the significance of sports in your life and in maintaining your health, the better it will be. Therefore, it is important to guide your children to gain enjoyment from sports as this may help them avoid the development of health problems in the later stages of their lives.
