Buckwheat dhoklas

Buckwheat dhokla is a famous Gujarati delicacy, commonly eaten during fasting. The calcium and protein from curd with high fiber from buckwheat sets the combination just right for a health snack!

Ingredients List

Ingredients Amount
Buckwheat flour (Kootu ka atta) 1 cup
Revitalite powder
Curds 1/4 cup
Ragi flour (Nachni ka atta) 2 Tbsp
Ginger green chili paste 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Fruit salt (Soda powder) 1/2 tsp
Oil for greasing
Coriander few twigs

Preparation Method

  • Mix buckwheat flour with curds and revitalite powder.
  • Add ragi flour, ginger green chili paste and salt to the mixture. Add water and mix well to make dhokla batter.
  • Add the fruit salt and sprinkle little water over it to enable bubbles to be formed.
  • Mix gently and pour the batter into a greased thali.
  • Steam for 15-20 min, till the dhoklas are firm.
  • Cool slightly and cut into diamond shaped pieces.
  • Serve hot garnished with coriander.
