Tomato pickle

Tomato pickle is a South Indian delicacy , mostly used as an accompaniment with breads, rotis, upma, and rice.It is a type of pickle which can be stored and relished for at least a month.

Ingredients List

Ingredients Amount
Tomatoes (chopped) 3 no.
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek seeds 1/4 tsp
Tamarind 5 gm
Chilly powder 1 tsp
Oil 2 tsp
Salt to taste

Preparation Method

  • Roast fengreek seeds and mustard seeds and powder them.
  • In a cooking pan, heat oil, add little mustard seeds. When they crackle add tomatoes and tamarind. Cover the pan and cook on a medium flame.
  • When the tomatoes are well cooked and the oil can be seen floating on the top, add the fenugreek and mustard powder.Stir well.
  • Add salt and chilli powder , and stir well.
  • Cool and store in an airtight container in a referigerator.
