Avoiding alcohol and tobacco in any form; not consuming any drugs that could weaken the mucosal defenses of your gastrointestinal tract; eating fruits, vegetables, and sprouts liberally; restricting your intake of red meat and spicy or pungent food items; and drinking at least 8 – 10 glasses of water daily; are certain precautionary measures that you can take to prevent the formation of peptic ulcers.
