To walk shirtless on a beach flaunting those six pack abs is something you always want to do. Of course, then you know you are being noticed and people are discussing your chiselled looks. But very few are lucky to have that fit body, which is derived after spending many hours in gym.
To be fit and fine is important. And if you aim for this, then that muscular look will eventually follow with workouts. Here are some tips to be kept in mind when you hit the gym to get fit...

  • Set A Goal - This means decide what you want and by what time. Discuss this with your fitness trainer. He will help you in deciding a reasonable set of exercises for a period of time that will help you in achieving your goal.
  • Be Regular - This means that you are suppose to be regular in your exercise regime if you want to achieve your goal.
  • Gradual Increase - This means that do not overdo and exert yourself. If you get stressed then you can not be regular as there may be days when you will skip because of ill health, and hence, again you will distance yourself from your goal.
  • Warm Up - This means warming up before exercising. This will prepare you for your routine exercise regime which you are to follow. Warming up exercises can be ten minutes cardio or some aerobic exercises as guided by your trainer. Warming up exercises increases the blood flow to your muscles and improves your joint flexibility. Warming up will prevent muscle, ligament or joint from any injury or strain during the weight bearing exercises.
  • Weight Bearing Exercises - This means set of exercises where your body works against gravity. Always start with lower weights, and then, gradually increase towards higher weights. There are different weight bearing exercises which improves the overall rate of metabolism in the body, and hence, help in burning calories and toning your body. These exercises are always started with the larger muscles like those of the thighs and then go towards the smaller muscles like those of the hands and back. It is essential to first get well trained on the machines, weights and the methods with the help of your instructor in order to avoid any injuries, sprains and strains.
  • Stretch Exercises - Stretching restores the muscle flexibility. This should be done after exercise. While doing so feel the muscle stretch, take a pause and count till 5 and then get back to the normal position. There are different stretch exercises for every set of muscles.
It is important that you enjoy your time at gym if you want to be regular and achieve your goal. Therefore, if you do not like the exercise pattern then discuss about this with your fitness instructor. With exercises it is also essential to eat the right amount of food providing you with the right calories. Avoid processed and junk foods. Consume a low calorie high protein diet. Do not starve or go for any crash diet. Have food at smaller intervals so that you do not over eat at your meals. Drink atleast 10 to 12 glasses of water a day. If you have any habits like smoking and drinking alcohol then giving up is to be considered as they only harm your body than do any good. In case, if you have any health problem, then it is important that you discuss your exercise regime with your doctor before you start in order to rule out any potential risks to your health from these exercises. If these tips are followed then you will soon have a body that will attract those envious glances that you always craved for!
