Teeth do not bleed, gums do. Reasons for bleeding gums could be deficiencies (of vitamin C or B), infections, ulcers, swollen gums, dental caries/plaques/tartar, bad dental hygiene, or due to vigorous brushing, improper flossing, tooth picking, ill fitting dentures, some medicines (e.g.: blood thinning medicines like aspirin, oral contraceptives, etc.), hormonal changes (in women), use of tobacco or some underlying health ailment like anaemia, etc.. Bleeding gums can often be prevented by proper dental hygiene, regular visits to the dentist and a balanced diet. If the bleeding is severe or chronic or accompanied by other unexplained symptoms, then it is advisable to consult your doctor.
