Teaching your baby

As a baby comes into this world, it begins to learn a lot of things. The ability of the baby to grasp things is amazing. It starts to carefully observe everything and pay attention to every sound coming from the surroundings. It hears every word that is being uttered and eventually starts practicing all what it has learnt from its environment.

There are lots of books and CDs available in the market that can help you to improve your baby’s learning process, because even when we assume that they cannot understand anything, the truth is that they can. Although they cannot speak verbally, they are constantly hearing and registering the spoken words and will soon be using them; even though initially, they may not pronounce these words properly.

The teaching process must be a natural one. The little one should not be pressurized to learn anything. It will very naturally imbibe much from the mother or the other people around. Hence, you should always set a good example for your kids. If parents frequently fight with each other or use expletives, they shouldn’t be surprised to find their bundle of joy following their footsteps very soon. You should therefore let your kid take its own decisions, allowing it to do whatever it wants, provided there is no danger involved or anything that will prove detrimental for the child in the long run.

You must explain everything to them, never underestimating their understanding or learning capacity. Even as you change their clothes or give them a bath, tell them why it is important to maintain hygiene. This will help to strengthen the bond between you and your child. Conversing with children all the time will help them to learn your language faster and will also make them self-confident because they can sense that you are respecting their individuality.

Speaking the language correctly and pronouncing words rightly is very important. Just because your baby cannot talk properly, you do not have to speak in your baby’s language. Although this may sound cute, it will prevent your baby from learning a language properly. Teaching a toddler is a memorable experience. There is a lot that you learn for yourself as you put in your efforts to teach your baby.
