Any kind of addiction is injurious to health, be it to alcohol, smoking or medicines. The following tips may help you: 1. It should be first and foremost your strong will power to quit and then someone else supporting you. 2. Decide one aim why you would like to quit, e.g., for better health, saving money or for your loved ones, as it is easy to do something with a reason for it. Then cut down gradually on your addictions. 3. Initial period is expected to be tough and different but not impossible. 4. Try and get rid of all those things that might remind you or provoke you to fall back to those addictions. 5. Try alternative or substitutes to those habits for e.g. if you are not feeling sleepy without the pills try some reading exercises, yoga etc. 6. To avoid alcohol, pen down the advantages and disadvantages of drinking to motivate you towards the benefits. 7. Stay away from all those people or places which reminds you of drinking. 8. Consulting a rehabilitation centre or a psychologist for counseling may help as it then becomes easier to quit. More information on addiction
