Delayed menses after child birth (also called as "Post Partum Amenorrhoea") is due to increased levels of the hormone prolactin in the body. The interval between child birth and first menses varies in every woman; it ranges between 2-7 months. Although the chance of conceiving (becoming pregnant) is less during this period, it is not nil. Since you had an unsafe sex, to avoid an unwanted pregnancy you need to either take an emergency contraceptive (if it had been less than 48 hours of unsafe sex or check with a home pregnancy test on your expected date of periods (3-4 wks from your day of intercourse). In either of the above cases, it is advisable to do a confirmatory test (serum beta HCG) to rule out pregnancy and/or consult a gynaecologist to guide you better
